Building Assessment Survey

In order to formulate a project specific proposal, we will need to visit your home and carry out a detailed survey.

This will include as a minimum a visual structural assessment, damp checks and moisture level readings, inspection of the loft and basement (where applicable), check the existing construction details (this may include some minor opening up), photographic records, inspection of existing services including drainage, gas, water and electric, site measurements of the facades and internal rooms, site conditions access etc and completion of the findings within the site report.

Costings

Whole House Retrofit

The process is likely to necessitate the entire removal of the existing windows, doors, wall finishes, floor and ceilings and partitions affecting external walls. This will facilitate the installation of the insulation and air tightness measures required to achieve the Passivhaus standards. The property will be fully insulated to the optimum standards and sealed with an airtight layer.

The new triple glazed, and thermally broken windows and doors will achieve outstanding U values and are compliant with Passivhaus standards. The building will require a whole house ventilation system, and this will be met by the installation of a mechanical ventilation heat recovery system, providing a highly efficient energy saving ventilation
solution with the benefits of filtered incoming air, improving the indoor air quality throughout the home, providing health benefits to respiratory sufferers.

Solar panels (where conditions allow) will be installed to supplement your electricity demands. To provide hot water and heating a highly efficient air source heat pump will be installed producing three units of heat for every unit of electrical power consumed.

Retrofit External Packages

We have developed a proposal for the homeowner who wishes to avoid the internal disruption associated with a complete refurbishment, this includes external wall insulation along with the potential of numerous finishes including render, brick and cladding profiles.

Along with loft insulation and new windows, doors etc we can carry out a full external envelope installation with the minimum of disruption. We do advise the installation of a heat recovery ventilation system to ensure the property is effectively vented, avoiding the potential of condensation issues.
